Beagles Breeders - How to Select a Breeder

"A good beginning makes a good ending," - so the saying goes. Hence, nobody is going to deny that the thing your puppy is going to grow into depends to a great degree on the quality of its ancestors. Here the question arises: "What is the best way to choose a breeder?"

Some people prefer buying puppies from their friends and acquaintances, which is surely a reasonable thing to do. You don't have to deal with strangers, plus you get some assistance in raising your little Beagle. On the other hand, only a decent breeder can guarantee a purebred Beagle whose looks and behavior go hand in hand with the accepted standards.

The main thing to remember when choosing a breeder is that there are only two types of them: reliable and non-reliable. First, one should take into consideration the reputation this or that breeder enjoys. It would be nice if (s)he can give references of some responsible breeders. Usually it does not present any difficulty for a reliable breeder, especially if (s)he is involved in canine activities such as dog shows or is a member of a kennel club.

This sort of activity presupposes profound knowledge in the field of breeding (a responsible breeder would never breed dogs with genetic deviations or those with incompatible temperament or other problems) and training the Beagle, as well as ways of handling some problems if a future owner faces any.

Some catalogues, for instance AKC Video Series, can be a helping hand in realizing what you are really after. They provide information concerning standards of Beagles such as size, color, constitution, etc.
